Texas Gold?

I just purchased a 1ounce gold coin that says The State Of Texas and one troy ounce .999 fine gold on one side and Has a crest and six flags and a star with a date of 1987 on the other side. Has anyone seen one of these or have any info on them?

I had a quarter ounce coin just like that last spring but I sold it. I never knew anything at all about it.
